Quint Essential Flower Card

I have just enough time this evening for a quick card share.
This one features one of my favourite SU Stamps, the Quint-Essential flower. One atamp that can be used with five different punches for a great layered effect.

I only used 4 layers in my card as with the foam dots and pearls it was thick enough for my taste.

Supplies used:
Stamps: Quint-essential flower - SU, A Word for You - SU, Impression Obsession Crackle background
Ink: Colorbox chalk inks
Dies: Sizzix Tim Holtz On the Edge Doily die
Punches: for the flower:2 3/8" scallop circle, 1 3/4" scallop circle , both SU, 1 1/4" circle and 1/2" circle - PB, for the greeting: large oval and scallop oval, both SU
1" wide dark brown satin ribbon
1/16" and 1/8" pearl accents
foam dots

Supply organization and ledgers

Unfortunately work has been too busy in the past couple of weeks that I've been working several hours overtime almost every night. This means by the time I come home and have something to eat I'm too exhausted to even think about making something let alone takes photos etc and upload to my blog.

I still have a few projects I made several weeks ago that I haven't had a chance to share yet.
I'll try my best to get to them soon.

In the mean time I thought I'd share a great program I downloaded (it's free) to try and stay on top of all the supplies I currently own.

It's called Evernote . I absolutely love it!

I have created lists for my stamps, embossing folders, dies, punches and even non craft related things like books, movies etc.

Not only can I track, sort and easily find things I own, but it's also accessible from any mobile apps (I phone/smart phone, tablets etc) So when I’m out shopping and can't remember if I already own a certain embossing folder or die etc. I can log in and check.

Here's a sneek peek at what it looks like:
You can create endless notebooks, with  pretty much limitless notes. You can easily re-arrange the notes by dragging them to a different note book and copying to more than one notebook if needed.
Notebooks/Lists can be shared with friends as well.

To create a note, just enter any information you like. I've only added the name of the stamps, the manufacturer and the image. But you can add total pieces per set, year, item/product number etc.
You just drag and drop the image from either your pc or anywhere online into the open page and it's saved.
You can add unlimted tags that will help you sort and find items easier.
For example I have tags for themes (greetings, Holidays, nature, animals... as well as tags for coordinating punches (or dies) ie, scallop oval, star, heart etc. So if I'm looking for a birthday greeting that fits onto a scallop oval punch shape I can sort by those tags and find a stamp set that will work.

Shaggy Dog Punch Art

Today's punch art comes with a little story.
My daughter works for a small company that is a close knit little family. As such the owner brings the family dog to work everyday. Max is an adorable white poodle mix of sort. His fur is usually rather shaggy and definitley not trimmed to the standard poodle style.

A couple of months ago was the boss's birthday. My daughter wanted to give her a gift but was told not yo spend any money. I offered her one of my card kits and she agreed but she also wanted something more personalized. She thought it would be a great idea if I could make a custom birthday card featuring Max the dog.

This is what I came up with.

First Max was the only thing on the card:

Not bad, but seemed to be lacking a certain something. So we thought to make him ready for a birthday party and added a party hat.
This soon was followed by some balloons as well:

At this point I thought I was done, but it seems I was mistaken. Turns out the card was not complete without atleast one present.

Here's Max with all his Birthday party decor:

Max the punch art dog, was well received and my daughter and I are now contemplating making a little personalized calendar for Christmas featuring Max each month dressed for an appropriate activity (If I actually make this I'll be sure to share :)

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Embossing folder: Sizzix Tim Holts Checkerboard
Ink: Colorbox
Die: SU oval framelits
Stamp: Teeny Tiny Wishes
Punches for sentiment: Word window - SU and Modern label - SU

I couldn't sleep so stayed up and stamped a little.

Versatile Horseshoe Punch

Today I decided to play with one of my punches to see what new ideas I could come up with.
The punch in question is Punch Bunch's large horseshoe.

Looking at the shape the immediate things that pop into my head are a purse or basket handle, an angel's halo, or even punching several horseshoes in a row from black cardstock and using the negative to depict several little girls' heads in silhouette (maybe to create a border or a row of an audience).

I wanted to be a bit more creative though. What I came up with are several "ribbon" style flowers and borders.

I haven't made anything with them yet (still working on that) but thought I'd share the ideas.

First up is a 3 petal ribbon flower design. As you can see by adding more layers the finished piece takes on a different look.

Next I made a 4 petal design (I think the 2nd stage with just the b;ack center would work really well as a background):

I then thought I'd try a 5 petal design (this is the largest I recommend).

I then wondered what would a border look like? and came up with the following:

Last but not least I thought, the horseshoe resembled a chain link and came up with this:

Come back soon to see some of the above ideas put into use.

Double Embossing Times Two

Sorry for the delay in new posts.
Calgary is currently in a state of emergency (has been for more than a week now) due to severe flooding. Thank goodness my home was not affected (although we were evacuated for 2 days).
Our city and surrounding areas have suffered some great losses and we all hope things will return to normal soon.

I have several projects from two weeks ago that I have not had the chance to share. I will try and get them uploaded over the next week or so.

Firts up, my second attempt at double embossing. This time I used  two different embossing folders.
I really like how this one turned out.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Embossing folders: SU Vine Street, Sizzix Florla Vines
Dies: SU ovals, Sizzix Tim Holtz Elegant Flourishes
Punches: SU oval, SU Scallop Oval, SU Blossom
Stamps: SU Mixed Bunch, SU Petite Pairs
Ink: Colorbox: green and pumpkin shade from Autumn Pastels Pallet, Colorbox black,
Black marker, green organza ribbon, pop dots, brown 3/4" button

Here's a peek at the inside of the card

I used the oval die cut out from the "window" of the card front for mounting the sentiment.

More Fun Projects to come so check back soon.
