Cottage Rose

Stampin' Up announced this year's retirement list and of course several items I had on my wish list were on it.
Luckily last week was free shipping as well so I placed my "must have" order.
In preperation of the arrival of said order I ventured into my craft room and tried to tidy up a little.
This led to a re-icovery of long neglected stamp sets.

Amongst them one of my first SU sets; Definitely Decorative Cottage Rose.
With the recent aquisition of several SU stamp pad sets I decided this was the time to revisit this oldy but goody.

Over the last few days I create several lovely rose cards and thought I'd share them with you. These are great for Mother's Day, Thank you cards, Weddings, birthdays ... etc.
Here is a quick preview:

I love the versatility of this stamp set. And dispite my being rather too lazy to use my stamp-a-ma-jig to line up the image (I tend to guess at the placement) the rose always looks good.

I stamped the french script background with versa mark on my white card base. Then embossed with white embossing powder. I then applied the Crushed Curry ink to the centre with a sponge dauber. Next I applied Crumb Cake ink and then along the edges the sepia black. I then wiped everything with a baby wipe to fully expose the embossed script. Same procedure was used for the greeting.

Pop-up Easter Box Card

Lately everywhere I look on the web I see pretty pop-up box cards. The design intrigued me and I had to give it a try. The different layers lend themselves perfectly for punch art pieces.
I came up with a cute little Easter card

This is what the card looks like closed (notice I even lined my envelope to match).

And this is the card open; it folds into a cute little box.

Side view of the open card

And a close up of the little punch art pieces

I used the basic templete/instructions found here, but adjusted the measurements to create a standard 4.25 x 5.5 inch card when closed. I only needed an 8.5 x 11 inch piece of cardstock to do this.
Trim your cardstock to 9" x 5.5", then score (black lines) and cut (red lines) as per image below.
I cut the decorative strip for the layers from the leftover cardstock (adjusting the length between scores to fit my smaller sized card).

Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned Paper: Karen Foster (old)
