Background Stamps 2

Today I am sharing the 2nd card I created while playing with my background stamps.

This one I am intending to send to my grandfather for his birthday next month.

Again, as you can see, this is a nice and simple card. Supplies used as follows:

First background: SU French Script stamped in Colorbox black ink, and over that is  the Second background stamp: SU Soft Swirls in Colorbox Saphire Silk (blue metallic) ink.

I then randomly stamped a dragonfly (old Club Scrap) all over in Encore Ultimate Metallic Green.

Cardstock colors are an ivory and a teal blue Bazzill (not sure what the colour is called)

I added 3/4" teal satin ribbon and mounted my greeting over it using foam dots. Frame and sentiment stamps are from SU Vintage labels, which were both punched from cardstock using SU largest oval and a large rectangle (PB) punch. Both of these were attached with foam squares for some added dimension.

Thanks for looking. Hope I've helped inspired some of you to dig through your background stamps.

Background stamps

I came across a thread disussing uses for background stamps on SCS recently which led me to look through my collection.

Honestly I do not have very many, maybe 6 SU and about 10 older Club Scrap ones that are sitting in a box. I have not unmounted these (and am still working on my stamp inventory binder) so they tend to get forgotten.

Anyway, the thread got me thinking, which ended in the creation of two very nice birthday cards  using more than one background stamp that I thought I'd share.

The first I will be sending to my aunt for her Birthday next month as tulips are very fitting for a spring birthday:

It's a really simple card. Supplies used as follows:

First background: SU French Script stamped in Memories dark brown chalk-a-lots ink
Second image is an old Club Scrap stamp (Tulips). The blossoms are inked with Colorbox Warm red fluid chalk and the stem/leaves with the medium green on my Colorbox Autum Pastels liquid chalk ink pallette.
Cardstock colors are an ivory and a warm red tone (random cardstock I had, not sure of the manufacturer).
I added 3/4" red ribbon and mounted my greeting over it using foam dots.Frame and sentiment stamps are from SU Vintage labels, which were both punched from cardstock using SU 7/8" scallop oval and a 1 1/2" circle punch.

Thanks for looking. Hope I've helped inspired some of you to dig through your background stamps.

My beautiful, little sister turned 30 last week. Of course that ment I had to make her a gorgeous card for the occassion.

So this card suits her perfectly :)

Butterfly Valentine

This is a little later than planned but it's been way too busy at work the past few days that I didn't have the energy to do the instructions for today's (and tomorrow's) card any earlier.

Without further ado, here is my butterfly suitor.

Supplies used: stamps: (the little "love" on the heart is from SU's Love Always and the greeting is from SU's Animal Valentine. All edges were inked with Colorbox inks, cardstock is mostly Bazzill.
I again cut an oval with my Coluzzle for mounting and the greeting is on a 3/4" strip of paper that I trimmed with my SU Deco label on either end.

Full punch art instructions for making the butterfly below.

Come back tomorrow for one more Valnetine's card

Bee Valentine

Today I am sharing my cute little Bee Valentine.

The basic design of this little bug is the same as my Love Bugs. I used by trusty Coluzzle to cut the nice even rings for the body. I punched a yellow and a black ornament and then layered them on top of each other. I then used my oval Coluzzle template and cut through both ornaments at the same time to make the rings. To assemble I alternated the colours. If you don't have a Coluzzle you can always hand cut the rings from the yellow only and glue onto the black ornament.

I didn't have the new SU honeycomb embossing folder yet when I made this card last week, but I just received my order the other day and I think this would work really well for this card.

Products used: Sentiment: SU Love Always, ink: Colorbox, cardstock: Bazzil. My little bee is pop doted onto the card.

The full punch list is in the below instructions.

Next post will be a Butterfly Valentine.

Mini Envelopes

As promised here is a really quick and easy tutorial on the mini envelope I used on my Cricket Valentine card.

Finished size of closed envelope is approx. 1 3/8 x 1 1/8 ins. The one on my card was embossed and sealed with a little heart punchie. The one above has a little love note tucked inside and has a stamp and postage mark on the front.

The heart, stamp and postage mark stamp are SU - Lovely Little Labels. The I and U are Alphabet Pixies - Antique. Inks used are Colorbox.

The punch for the envelope is the EK Flourish label. As shown below just trim the inner points, score and fold.

Pretty easy and very cute.

Cricket Valentine Card

Sorry this is a little late in the day, but better late than never, right?
Today I am sharing my cute little cricket (or grasshopper) Valentine.

Cute, isn't he? I left the card rather simple. The oval was again cut with my trusty Coluzzle, or use any nesting style oval die. Greeting is an old SU stamp from "Animal Valentines" which is stamped on a double punched large EK Flourish punch shape. Cardstock is Bazzill Basics and edges were inked with Colorbox inks.

Full instructions for the cricket/grasshopper punch art below.

As it's really late already I will share the instructions for the little "love letter" tomorrow (yes, it's made from a punch shape)

Caterpillar Valentine Card

Today we have a happy little caterpillar punch art card.

Doesn't he look oh so sweet? He's suprisingly simple to make and doesn't require too many punches either. This is also another great use for the SU Owl Builder punch. Full instructions can be found below.

Products used: Background oval was cut with my oval Coluzzel, but any larger nesting style oval die can be used. Sentiment stamp is from an old SU set (Love Alays) which was stamped on a modified key tag shape made using these instructions (I just lengthened it by about 1/2 ins to accomodate the sentiment). The heart he's holding is a large (approx. 1 -1/4 ins heart (PB)). All edges were inked with Colorbox inks, and the textured cardstock I used is (generally always) Bazzill Basics.

Here are the full punchart instructions, enjoy!

Next post I will share a card featureing an adorable little cricket delivering his message of love.
