Christmas in July Tags - Bells

I know I'm cutting it close but I have a couple of Christmas in July tags using the Fox Builder punch; two Christmas tags.
The first is this pretty bell swag.

This can easily be used for cards as well. They also lend themselves well for New Years, Anniversaries and wedding themes.

The tag was die cut from black cardstock and the top was reinforced with a round tap punch piece folded over the top edge. A 3/16" eyelet was added and coordinating ribbon tied through the hole.

The punch art piece was attached using a bit of foam tape. I also left enough space that a name or To/ From:,  can be added using a gel pen.

Wedding Butterflies

Apologies for the lack of posts this past week. My husband and I were out of town for a wedding.
Long time friends youngest daughter got married. I still can't believe she's old enough to do that. I've know her all her life and it's amazing to see the young woman she's turned into.

When I wrapped her wedding present I thought I'd do something a little special, but it couldn't be too elaborate as it needed to withstand a 10 hour car ride. Butterflies came to mind, as they symbolize change, beauty and a new beginning.

Here is what I came up with.

I grouped several butterflies, of all three sizes, around and on top of my ribbon bow.

Right in the center are the two largest, to form a couple.

The butterflies added a very simple yet elegant touch of something special, and they survived the trip.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Recollections 110 lb white
Dies: Bold Butterflies and Butterfly Thinlits from SU
Misc.: I used a precision plate and dryer sheets to make cutting these delicate design easier. All the butterflies were slightly folded and then I glued the body section to the package with Mono Multi.

Bride & groom favours

With summer fast approaching (we've actually had some record high temperatures here, hitting 33°C) the wedding season is upon us. The youngest daughter of close friends of ours is getting married this summer so I have been playing with various ideas in my head.
I came up with these cute little bride & groom favours. They would be great for shower gifts, or even place markers. I however will be using them as a gift topper. We have 2 gifts that will be stacked like a cake and this adorable little couple will be on the top.

As you may have guessed, these were made with the curvy keepsake die.
I added a little ribbon (5 strips, knotted at the top, attached to the back of the head, side by side) to create the veil and added a ribbon the bow, but you could easily skip the bow (or use a paper bow) and use a doily for the veil. I also added some pearls to the head piece and the dress, but rhinestones would work really well too.

Flower Cards

I have bought so many flower stamp sets with matching punches lately only to not really used them much that it's high time I pulled them out of the cupboard and put them to use.

So this past week I made these lovely all occasion cards.

 

It's not easy to tell in the photo (you can see it a little better if you view the larger size) but I used gold glimmer mist on the flower. I also shaped the flowers with shaping tools to add dimension.

Again I used glimer mist, this time a pearlecent white. The flowers were also shaped with shaping tools to add dimension.

These flowers i colored with my SU markers and then sprayed with a little gold glimmer mist. Thye were also shaped a little to add depth.

Church Christmas Card

I send many of my Christmas cards to relatives living in Germany. It is very common there to have a church scene on Christmas cards. I do not currently have stamp set with any church images and therefore decided to try and create one with my punches.

It was actually easier than I thought and came together rather quickly. This would look great on a  starry night background, or a snowy scene. The church (or chapel) would also work well for wedding theme, maybe even for a baptism.

 

I tried to add a lot of detail to the church itself. I embossed the shingles on the roof tops, bricks on the building and even attempted a stained glass look on one of the windows. I backed my window frames with vellum that was coloured from the back with markers. The plain windows are just highlighted in yellow to create a lighted look.

Stocking Stuffer Mini Purses

I have coveted the mini purse die for some time and finally broker down and ordered it this summer.
When I received it I ran it through my machine to do a quick test and then out it aside. It's been sitting and waiting to be used ever since.

Stocking stuffer's at our house generally consist of a candy or chocolate treat as well as several useful little gift items such as, Kleenex packs, travel lotions, razors etc. and Chapstick. Stocking stuffers are also generally not wrapped.  So I though this year I will put the Chapsticks inside a cute little personalized mini purse for all the ladies (and am still contemplating a tool box or fishing bag.... for the men).

Here are the first three I have created (I have 3 more to go).

Basic supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Embossing folders: Reptile - Darice (large pattern), Burlap - Tim Holtz
Ink: Smokey Slate, Basic Black - SU, Versamark, Pearl white - Club Scrap
Die: Mini Purse - SU
Misc.: Basic Gray Marker - SU, per purse 2 x 1/8" mini brad, closure - button or brad etc.

The black and silver "alligator" skin one is for my daughter - she loves alligator and gothic/dark tones are her preference.

 

I cut my purse die, then ran the cardstock through by Cuttlebug with the embossing folder. I then inked it with Versmark and embossed with clear embossing powder. The flap and bakc area i also sponged with a pearl white ink and heat set. The strapwas alos clear embossed and then attached it to eitehr side with a little 1/8" black brad. I added a pretty rhinestone flower with a glue dot to the frotn for the closure.

 

The pink and black creation is for my sister - she is a girly girl at heart.

 

This one is the same as the back with exception to the two tiones and that I only textured the pink carstock. The sides and strap are flat black, clear ambossed.

The last one was an experiment and I may keep it for myself.

 

 

This one was done with a smaller embossed texture. I did not clear emboss. I did sponge the purse with a little dark gray and black. The base of the purse is cut from medium gray. The edging from white cardstock that I inked with Smokey Slate. I also added stitching with my Basic Gray marker. The brads used are sliver and the closure is 1/4" square silver brad.

I love this die and can see many possibilities for it (birthday goodies, wedding favours...). I almost wish my daughter were still little as these would be a big hit with little girls. Guess I have to hope there will be little nieces or grandbabies sometime soon.

Wedding Card

My nephew is getting married end of the month. Unfortunately he lives overseas and my husband and I are unable to attend. I therefore thought to make a personalized card for the occasion.

This led to digging through various stamp sets until I finally settled on an oldie but goodie SU set.
 
Here's the card: 

 

I personalized the envelope with the couples initials (an old Club Scrap alphabet set) and stamped it with the SU border stamp to match the card.

Cardstock: white Bazzill

Stamps: Love Always - SU, Swirly Heart Wheel (matching border) - SU

Ink: Crumb Cake - SU, Versamark

Dies: Floral Ovals - Nestabilities - Spellbinders, Lacy Oval - Spellbinder

Embossing Folder: Pretty Print - SU

Misc.: 5/8" burgundy organza ribbon, 2 each, 1/4" and 1/8" pearls, foam squares, fine white embossing powder 

 

I started with a standard A2 (5.5 x 4.25 ins) card base. My first layer is 1/4" smaller all around. This I embossed with the pretty print embossing folder. I then applied some Crumb Cake ink with a sponge dauber over the embossing. Next layer is the largest Floral Oval die followed by a Lacy Oval one size smaller than the Floral oval. I stamped the Swirly Heart border across the long side of the Lacy Oval in Crumb Cake. All edges were inked with the same colour.

I then stamped the lovely heart design with Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

Then using my sponge dauber I inked the design with Crumb Cake and wiped the embossed finish with a baby wipe to remove the excess ink. The heart was hand cut and then mounted using foam squares for a little added dimension.

I added a hand tied ribbon bow (approx. 2.5 ins) to the bottom of the heart and some pearls to 2 opposite corners for a touch of flair.

I stamped the Lacy Oval border onto a 5.5 ins long piece of cardstock. I then trimmed the it width wise right along the edge of the stamped image and inked the edges. This is layered onto a approx. 2.5" wide piece of cardstock that was die cut both at the top and bottom with the scallop die from Adorning Accents. Again the edges were inked with Crumb Cake. I then adhered it to the inside of the card just slightly higher than center.
The sentiment was punched out with the deco label punch and mounted at the top of the border.
This leaves enough room for a personally message below the border.
