Birthday Shaker Tag

This past week has been a busy one for me. Most of the week I attended a work related training seminar and therefore had very little time (nor energy) to create anything.

Yesterday I felt rather uninspired but thank goodness today I had some time and the creative juices started flowing. My inspiration came from my last card, the one with the cute little micro bead shaker.

This time I made several shaker tags. I love how fast & easy these come together when using a stamp set and matching punch (or die).

I decided to use the deco label punch and Four Frames stamp set to create four different looks with the same shaker technique.

Here is a closer look at the Birthday tag.

I die cut the tag from light blue cardstock, then punched the deco label from the bottom (as high as the punch will reach) making sure to center it. Next I sponged the edges of the tag in blue.

I then stamped the frame and sentiment on a scrap piece (approx. 2" x 3") of white cardstock.
I cut foam tape into strips and attached it around the stamped image to create my shaker frame.

I cut a 2" x 3" piece of clear acetate and using my trusty Mono Multi liquid glue adhered it to the back of my blue tag. I then filled my shaker base with some micro beads, removed the adhesive from the back of the foam frame and carefully placed my blue tag on top, ensuring the opening is centered over the stamped image, pressing a little around the opening edges to make sure the foam tape adhered.

I then used several foam dots (and some scrap) the same thickness as my foam tape on the back of the tag and adhered a white layer slightly bigger than the blue tag.

I hand trimmed the white cardstock to approx. 1/8" width all around. That's it. The shaker tag is done and ready to be decorated.

I chose to add a few punch art balloons and a white organza bow. The punch art is not my design, you can find the instructions for the basic small oval balloon here. I did mix it up by making a larger oval and a heart balloon in addition to the 2 small balloons.

Peek-A-Boo Chick

Tonday I have my second Peek-a-Boo card set, this one features an adorable little chick (it reminds me a little of the Suzie Zoo duck).

Again i made a set of 2 cards, but you could sue one image on the front and the other on the inside and make just one card.

Here are the close-ups, front:

and the back of our little escaping critter:

Painter Bunny Easter Card

I have three kids, so of course I have a third gift card holder card to share. I created another bunny. He is the same design as the last, one punch, but I posed him differently. I also gave him him a paint brush. He reminds me of the Easter bunnies found in German Easter story books. He's just missing his glasses.

It's harder to tell in the photo, but my pearls aren't white. I used my Blendabilities marker to colour the pearls a light peachy-pink.
I also chose bright hues for this one even though it's a card for one of my sons. It's a bit of a secret, but he loves pink.

I left the inside a little plain, but did carry over the colours.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Stamps: And Many More - SU, All Year Cheer 1 - SU
Die:  Timeless Rectangle - Nestabilities - Spellbinder
Ink: Sahara Sand, Blushing Bride, Strawberry Slush, Chocolate Chip, Basic Black - all SU
Alcohol marker: Skin tone - Blendabilities - SU
Misc.: 5/8" light blue satin ribbon, 3/8" pearls, white gel pen, black marker, foam mounting squares

Full punch art instructions below.

Thanks for stopping by! Hope to see you again soon; next will be some 4 x 4' Easter gift cards.

Easter Bunny Card

Today I am sharing my second gift card holder Easter card. This one is a cute Easter bunny. I choose subdued, masculine tones that would appeal to my son more than bright spring colours.

As with my chick, the punch art design uses a single punch (not including the eggs).
I carried the colour scheme over to the inside of the card which holds a gift card.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Patterned paper: misc. scraps
Stamps:Teeny Tiny Wishes - SU, A Little Somthin' - SU
Die:  Oval Framelits - SU
Embossing folder:  Lacy brocade - SU
Punches: Word window - SU, Modern label - SU, Small, wide oval - SU (eggs), Owl punch, see below instructions
Ink: Crumb Cake - SU, Basic Black - SU, Daffodil Delight - SU, Strawberry Slush - SU, Always Artichoke - SU
Misc.: white gel pen, black marker, foam mounting squares, 5/8" tan organza ribbon, 3/16" perals, red/rose chalk

Girl Curvy Keepsake Treat Wrapper

I Hope I didn't keep anyone waiting too long.
Here is the little girl treat wrapper made with the Curvy Keepsake SU die.

I think she'd be very cute for Easter (maybe have a her holding a large Easter Egg). Or how about a party invite. She could be holding a gift or balloon and the party details could be written on the back.. This also makes a great party favour and she can easily be turned into a little boy.

Here's a side and back view (yes, I finished the back of the head with another scalloped circle)

My wrapper is holding a clear baggie with 6 small Easter chocolates/eggs, but many little candy treats will work well for this. A small dollar store type toy would probably fit too.

Oops, forgot to note the  supplies used
Ink: all SU - Blushing Bride, Crushed Curry, Strawberry Slush, Soft Sky
Cardstock: Bazzill
Die; Curvy Keepsake - SU
Punches: - as note din the below instructions.
Misc.: blakc marker, red/rose blush (my white gel pen is dried up and I haven't had a chance to buy a new one so no highlights on this one)

Punch art instructions below:

Thanks for stopping by! Come back soon for my baby wrapper instructions.

Teddy Bear Punch Art

It's funny how recently almost all the babies in my family and circle of friends have been boys.
It has come to the point that I am a little sick of blue. So this little "Welcome" card does not use traditional baby colours. The teddy of course is not limited to a baby card either.

And here is a different view to show how I layered the arms with small foam squares and the head with slightly thicker foam.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Ink: Colorbox
Stamp:   So Many Sayings - SU
Punches: Word window - SU, Modern Label - SU
Die: Accut Cut square frame, Lacey oval - Spellbinder
Misc.; dark red ribbon, foam squares, 1/4" red rhinestones, white gel pen

I sponged the center of the oval die before embossing/removing the die.

Full punch art instructions for the teddy bear are below.

Toy Soldier Christmas Card

Last project of the week is the toy soldier Christmas card.

Card greeting is an old SU stamp. I accented the greeting with holly made using the SU bat punch (instructions can be found here). As always edges of all pieces have been inked with Colorbox inks.

Full instructions for the toy soldier punch art are below.

Come back Sunday night for a preview of next weeks projects.

Christmas Drum

Today I'm sharing my Christmas drum punch art tag.

I used five 1/8" antique brass brads and a little gold embroidery floss to add the details to the little drum. All edges were inked with colorbox inks. The drum is mounted on the 52 mm scalloped square by PB. The large tag is an Accut cut die and the to/from stamp is from an old SU set.

Full instructions below (this only requires 2 punches for the actual drum)

Christmas punch art card and tags 3

This week will be a toy theme for my Christmas punchart. Take a look below to see all 5 projects.

The toy soldier is a little too big to fit on my large tags so I turned him into a card.  The other designs are large enough to work on cards but also not too alrge so they atill work well on these tags.

Come back tomorrow for the instructions of the first project. As I have in the last two weeks, I will post the close up and the punch art recipe for one of the above each weekday.

Teddy Birthday Card

While playing with my punches I decided to make a birthday card for my nephew. Hope teddy bears aren't too cute for a 7 yo boy.

What do you think, too cute? Maybe I need to make one with cars or Lego for back-up.

I used a 3/4 inch square and a small funky flower punch for the present and the balloons are just a large balloon punch.

I think the bear would be cute for a Christmas card as well. Skip the baloons and maybe add a pine wreath.

Here's the instructions for the bear:

Christmas in July

I've been trying to decide on this years Christmas card design (got to figure this out early enough  in order to find the time to get them all completed).

For those of you that make your own Christmas cards, do you make them all the same, all different, choose a few designs each year?

I try to stick with only a couple of designs but am thinking of changing this.

Here's what I came up with yesterday.

The punch art angels are another take on the seashell doll. The wings are one seashell cut in half. The halo is the handle of my giant water pail punch from Emagination, but a double punched circle would work as well.
Banners are the smallest of the Tim Holtz Tattered Banners die. Words are from an old SU stamp set, All Year Cheer I. The angel's dresses were punched form Diamond Dust paper, the wings from white mulberry paper and the hair from metallic shimmer cradstock.

Hello Kitty

Wow, two posts in one day. I know this won't happen again anytime soon.
After playing a little more with my punches this afternoon I came up with this cute little card.

The mat was cut with the large Floral Oval Spellbinder die. The greeting is an old SU stamp (no idea what that set was called). If you want to try and make this punch art Hello Kitty, the instructions are below.
I again have noted substitutions for the punches that are no longer available.

Raggedy Ann & Andy Punch Art

I think these two would make a great friendship card, not to mention a little girl's Birthday card.
I've posed them standing up, but they can easily be in a sitting position like the dolls from yesterday.
As already mentioned the seashell punch as well as the flower pot punches (Andy uses the medium sized on as well) are no longer avaiable. I've noted possible substitutions in the instructions below.
Right click the image for the full sizeds one and right click to save.

Here's  friendship card  made the other using these little punch art dolls
