Hello Teacher

With school just having started this is a great time to welcome new teachers.
With that in mind I made a hello teacher card with the aid of my trusty Curvy Keepsake die.

I needed a nice, large apple for my design but didn't have an apple die. So I decided to use the largest curved shape I had and turn it into an apple. It was really easy with just a little curved trimming at the top and bottom - photo instructions are below.

Birdhouse Christmas Wishes

Today I have another note tag punch creation. As I am still working on a few more Christmas cards I used this design for a Christmas theme, but it would also work well on most other cards.

I added a pretty cardinal to the top of my birdhouse, but it looks just as cute on it's own.

 

The cardinal uses old instructions I posted here last year. The only change is that I added a second wing in behind.

Christmas Candle Trio

If you recall I mentioned in my post featuring the bird bath and fountain punch art that I came up with that particular design while making candle holders. Well, today I am sharing that Christmas candle holder card.

It features a trio of different candle holders, all made from the note tag punch. Each candle holder design can easily be used for a bird bath, fountain, outdoor planter or pedestal design as well.

This card is a large 5.5 x 8.25", half sheet, card.

I added a few pine twigs made of super jumbo fern punch pieces behind the candle holders. The candle holders were decorated with small pearls for a little extra bling. I mounted the largest candle holder first, then the medium holder with one layer of foam squares. The smallest candle in the front was mounted with 2 layers of foam squares to create perfect depth.

Ink: Cherry Cobbler, So Saffron, Always Artichoke, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso - all SU

Stamps: French Script background - SU, Fun Phrases - SU

Here is a quick example of how the candle holder design can be used for planters and display pedestals.

The planter plant is made of three (3) mega grass shapes (Nankong punch). My potted plant uses the following punches: Pot: Designer Label (cut in half) -SU, Bird Builder (10 - greenery) - SU, tiny flower - MU. I sponged my blue background with a little Marina Mist. The lattice was sponged with So Saffron and Crumb Cake and adhered over the background. I used three pieces that were trimmed to fit the card front. The small planter was glued to the card front. The pedestal, butterfly and greeting were mounted with foam squares.

Ink: Basic Gray, So Saffron, Crumb Cake, Garden gree, Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, Marina Mist, Early Espresso - all SU

Welcome Fall

After reading several threads on SCS in regards to card sizes, I have come to realize that although here in North America we generally make smaller, A2 (5.5 x 4.25") cards, many people in Europe make much larger ones. So today's card is 5.5 x 8.5" in size; thats 1 sheet of cardstock folded in half.

 

The card started with just the cute punch art scarecrow I had amde.  I created the background by embossing the blue with clouds and sponging lightly with white ink. Then I added the ground (2 strips of torn brown cardstock) and the pumpkins.

That was supposed to be it, but I wasn't happy with the design. So I proceeded to add more elements. It took a few vines, the sun, bare tree and finally a little crooked, white picket fence for me to finally consider this card to be complete.

 

The pumpkins were created using 3 large ovals (SU) in rusty orange and the stem is the word window trimmed slightly on an angle at the top. The sun is a 1 3/8" circle (SU) and the fence was made using the word window punch (SU).

Candle Arrangement Punch Art

Today's card is another fairly simple one. It's also a little more traditional; and not another cute little animal or punch art character.

Cardinal Card

Today I am sharing a very simple card with you.
My cardinal on a snowy tree branch:

Punches: various snowflakes (EK papershaper small and medium, 2 different ones by PB  in medium)

Papa Crow Punch Art

And without further ado, today I haves the last missing member of our happy little crow family - Papa Crow.

I created an autumn farm scene for his card background:

 

The hay stack was cut free hand. The ladder as made from cardstock strips. The little rake is a medium Emagination punch and the weeds are a large grass punch by PB.

The fence was made using SU Word Window and the cloud in the sky was punched from embossed cardstock (Cuttlebug Bubbles) with PBs s.giant cloud punch.

 

 Here is Papa Crow in the field:

 

 

I added a little "wheat stem" made from 3 leafy stems (SU - Birdbuilder punch).  He's also carrying a little greeting hung with twine  (SU Teeny Tiny Wishes, Word Window and Modern Label).

Cardstock is all Bazzill, inks are Colorbox. I also used some of my EK markers on the haystack.

Momma Crow Punch Art

As promised, today I am sharing my second crow punch art.

Little momma also needed a fitting fall themed background, so I made some corn cobs - instructions can be found in this post from last year. The only change is that I used a smaller oval punch- the large oval by SU and I embossed the cardtsock with my Cuttlebug "Mosaic" embossing folder.

 

The clouds are a s.giant cloud punch by PB and the sign post is an ACCU Cut die.

Greeting stamp is from "Small Script" by SU

Oh, I had forgotten this in the previous post; I embossed the white cardstock before punching my clouds using  my Cuttlebug Bubbles embossing folder.

Inks are all by Colorbox, cardstock is Bazzill.

 

Here is the finished project:

 

I thought little momma needed a little something, so she has a small sunflower in her beak.
The flower was made with two small daisies (PB, 1 tiny sun (PB) and the leaf stem from SU Bird Builder.

Litte Birdhouse Cards

As many of you know, I love punches and am always on the lookout to obtain retired once that I wasn't able to snag when they were current.

I have a list with those I want to own if I can find them at reasonable prices. Several on my list are of course by SU. Sometimes I can find one on ebay but usually the pricing is ridiculous.

Well thanks to my SU rep (thanks again Doris!) I have been able to cross off 2 punches from my wish list. Last month I was able to get my SU snowflake punch through her help and this month the My Way Arrow punch.

For me it's Christmas when I have a new punch to play with. Unfortunately work has been too hectic lately and I haven't had much time to play, but I did manage to finish my fist punch art project using the My Way Punch.

I think these turned out rather cute and they were quite fast and simple to make.

Dragonfly Card

Today I have an adorable punch art dragonfly bearing a friendly offering.

This little fellow is perfect for many occassions. From Birthday cards to 'Thinking of You' to 'Just Because'.

I mounted my little critter on a lace mat made using an old PB eyelet border punch.
Other supplies used: Cardstock - Bazzill (the wings are punched from vellum), ink - Colorbox, greeting stamp - SU All Year Cheer I.

Butterfly Valentine

This is a little later than planned but it's been way too busy at work the past few days that I didn't have the energy to do the instructions for today's (and tomorrow's) card any earlier.

Without further ado, here is my butterfly suitor.

 

 

Supplies used: stamps: (the little "love" on the heart is from SU's Love Always and the greeting is from SU's Animal Valentine. All edges were inked with Colorbox inks, cardstock is mostly Bazzill.

I again cut an oval with my Coluzzle for mounting and the greeting is on a 3/4" strip of paper that I trimmed with my SU Deco label on either end.

Bee Valentine

Today I am sharing my cute little Bee Valentine.

 

 

The basic design of this little bug is the same as my Love Bugs. I used by trusty Coluzzle to cut the nice even rings for the body. I punched a yellow and a black ornament and then layered them on top of each other. I then used my oval Coluzzle template and cut through both ornaments at the same time to make the rings. To assemble I alternated the colours. If you don't have a Coluzzle you can always hand cut the rings from the yellow only and glue onto the black ornament.

 

I didn't have the new SU honeycomb embossing folder yet when I made this card last week, but I just received my order the other day and I think this would work really well for this card.

 

Products used: Sentiment: SU Love Always, ink: Colorbox, cardstock: Bazzil. My little bee is pop doted onto the card.
