Bird Crazy Celebrate

I really enjoyed making this card. To me this crazy little bird looks like he is wearing a tuxedo; wherefore he was perfect for a celebration themed card.

I stamped the bird as well as the top hat and bow tie on watercolor paper and coloured all using SU inks and an aqua painter. Then the pieces were cut out using the matching dies.

The assembled bird was matted on an oval cut out and I add a little shading below him for a shadow effect.  The card front is very dark navy cardstock onto which I stamped a crackle background in pearlescent white.

For my finishing touches I couldn't resist and had to add a bit of sparkly thread and sequins

Supplies used:

Bird Crazy Vacation

My dear sister is going on vacation in a few weeks to Costa Rica; the lucky girl.
So with that in mind I created this "Bon Voyage" Bird Crazy card.

To created the background I sponged the sky and then watercoloured the ocean and beach. Once that was dry I stamped on the clouds and sun.

The bird and accessories were stamped on desperate paper and watercolours. once dry I cut them out using the coordinating dies. To create the look of glass on the lenses of the sunglasses I used Ranger's Glossy Accents.

To finish I added the sentiment on a little banner with inked edges and placed a few random turquoise iridescent sequins pieces on the water. I also aged the card a little with a light sponging of Soft Suede.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Recollection white, SU watercolor paper
Stamps: Bird Crazy, Crazy things, Bird Talk- Tim Holtz, Sprinkle of Life, kinda Eclectic - SU
Dies: Bird Crazy, Crazy Things - Tim Holtz
Ink: Various SU colours - Strawberry Slush, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo, Soft Sky, Marina Mist, Soft Suede, Hello Honey, Basic Black, Craft White, daffodil Delight, Chocolate Chip
Misc.: Ranger's Glossy Accents, Sequins, sponge, watercolor brush

Bird Crazy

This Christmas my husband proved himself very generous as he surprised my with not only the Crazy Bird stamp set by Tim Holtz, but also the coordinating Crazy Things and Bird talk stamps. As well as the dies for both the birds and things.

I had been eyeing these for quite sometime but just could not justify the cost. Suffice it to say I will be making se of these sets quite a bit in the near future.

It didn't take long for me to break in these stamps. I quickly started by stamping one of each bird onto watercolour paper. Yes, I said watercolour paper. I decided to try water colouring first before I opt for my Copics. Mind you I've not really water coloured much before. Sometime last year I gave it a somewhat unsuccessful try when I coloured a butterfly image. Of course I also didn't; have any good quality paper at the time. I enjoyed it much more this time around and d believe that I was also much more successful.

My first finished card is this fun birthday greeting.

I went all out and dressed up this little fellow with party hat and a bunch of balloons.
I also die cut his eyes and beak and popped those with a little foam tape. After the card was fully assembled I gave it a quick spray with some diluted walnut stain.

Overall I love how this first attempt turned out.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Recollections white (base) Bazzill Honey - background, SU watercolour paper
Ink: Various SU colours - Cherry Cobbler, Crushed Curry, More Mustard, Tangelo Twist,
Night of Navy, Old Olive, Certainly Celery, Early Espresso
Stamps: Tim Holtz - Bird Crazy, Bird Talk, Crazy Things, Inkadinkado - Baroque Scrolls
Dies: Tim Holtz - Bird Crazy, Crazy Things, SU - Banner Thinlits
Misc.: spray bottle with walnut stain, foam tape/mounting square

Gift Card Set

It has been a busy Holiday season and slowly, but surely, life is getting back on track.
I have had a few card projects completed for a little while but was not able to find much time to take photos of everything yet.

I did manage to squeeze in an hour so am able to share a gift set of cards I made for a friend for Christmas. These are all on the CAS side (as that is more her style) and as I am very frugal, make use of 2 recycled tissue boxes.
I apologize in advance for the somewhat poorer quality of my photos, the flash seems to have interfered a little.

The gift set consists of five matching cards in general themes.

One thank You card:

Two general "Hello" cards:

One "Cheers":

And one "For You":

All were made with simple white cardstock for the base, the tissue box prints and silver foil for the expressions and each one has been accented with a few little rhinestones. I left the insides blank so they can be used for various different occasions.

Supplies used:
Cardstock: Recollections white
Patterned paper: recycled tissue boxes
Specialty paper: SU silver foil
Dies: Banner Thinlets,  Apothecary Accents Thinlets, Hello You Thinlits, Greetings Thinlets - all SU

Misc.: rhinestones
